            Since the early 1970s... Maury Petrehn has been involved in every aspect of the sport of Hot Air Ballooning from the ground up. As a recognized leader, winner, & champion both for/of the sport, He has devoted a life to improving himself along with the magical site of ballooning. For nearly 45 years now he's pushed himself, those he has met along the way and this sport of ballooning - (a sport which virtually everyone throughout the World enjoys & loves) - to unexplored, demanding & challenging New Heights.

            Maury has won "Rookie of the Year" as well as "National Championships" - along with countless other
titles around the country including an unprecedented stretch of winning 5 consecutive events in a row.
Maury is the back to back Champion at the 2017 & 2018 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, Capping a Truly Astonishing Lifetime competition winning percentage of around 25% of all the races he has flown in. He has also worked directly with several balloon manufacturers; developing safety & flight testing many exciting performance improvements for balloon equipment.

            Maury has run a successful balloon business for many years (Beyond Inc.) As a full time Pilot/Balloonist he has helped hundreds of newer ballooning enthusiasts get started. He has been passionately involved in all areas of the sport, from offering balloon rides, buying & selling new & used balloon equipment, pilot flight training, corporate advertising & promotions, flying special shapes,
running balloon events & competitions.

            Maury has been the Balloon Event Director for many Balloon festivals around the country.
He is the Founder, Creator, Director & Organizer of - "The U.S. Open National & World Championships".
A born leader with thoughts, ideas, and innovations now all being implemented into life & into the sport
of Hot - Air Ballooning. Respected by his peers, fellow competitors, & other balloonists, well known &
highly regarded by some to be “The Best” - if not just - “One of the Best” - pilots to ever fly a Hot Air Balloon. Way ahead of his time, He is a consummate professional, and is perhaps the ONLY 100 % Honest Balloon Pilot out there - with True Honor carried along side Proven full and Total Integrity.
